There were few things cooler in all of sports than Patrick Mahomes finding former Kansas City Chiefs and current Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill deep down the field for a long touchdown. Combining the rocket arm of Patrick Mahomes with the speed of Tyreek Hill created some incredible highlights.

Since Tyreek Hill left the team prior to the 2022 season in a trade to the Dolphins, Mahomes has not had that downfield threat that can run past a defense. While no one can replace Tyreek Hill, they got a pretty good lesser version in Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in free agency on Thursday night.

Brown, a very talented but inconsistent receiver who was drafted by the Ravens and last played for the Cardinals, agreed to a deal with Kansas City that will see him become one of Patrick Mahomes’ top targets.

Brown was a first-round pick out of Oklahoma by Baltimore in 2019, and had a 1000-yard season in 2021 in a breakout season. He was then traded to the Arizona Cardinals due to a contract dispute with the Ravens, where he had two seasons totaling a little over 1200 yards.

But, there’s every reason why the soon-to-be 27-year-old can break out once again with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice carried the pass-catching duties last year for the Super Bowl Champions. But, neither of them are burners who will beat you over the top. Meanwhile, Hollywood Brown is a 4.3 40-yard-dash guy who will cause serious problems down the field. That could help keep safeties from coming downhill on pass plays to clog things up for Kelce, especially. It makes the Chiefs’ offense all the more dangerous.
