Basketball players spend plenty of time learning how to block out distractions while shooting free throws, and one player representing Boston University had that training put to the test courtesy of a stunt that was pulled by the swim team at Holy Cross.

Anyone who is good enough to play college basketball is already familiar with the hostile treatment you’ll typically be subjected to when you enter enemy territory, and there’s a pretty good chance they won’t be fazed by the tactics opposing fans will resort to in an attempt to throw them off of their game.

That means most people to have a chance to step up to the free throw line have spent a good chunk of their lives dealing with rowdy spectators who will harness a wide variety of strategies in an attempt to get into their head in the hopes of forcing a miss.

At the risk of offending fans of the Holy Cross Crusaders, the Hart Center isn’t exactly known for fostering the kind of environment you tend to encounter at schools that are home to college basketball blue bloods—especially when you’re talking about a Monday night game between a Boston University team that headed to Worcester with an 8-13 record to face off against a home squad that was sitting at 5-16.

With that said, the contest still managed to produce a very amusing highlight courtesy of the Holy Cross swim team, which made its way across a balcony behind the basket while Terriers guard Ethan Okwuosa was attempting a couple of free throws near the end of the first half.

While the Speedo-clad crew did what they could to mess with Okwuosa, they were unable to prevent him from hitting both of the shots (although Holy Cross ultimately walked away with a 65-63 win).

Interestingly enough, Okwuosa was only shooting 60% from the charity stripe before going 4-4 during the game, so maybe he’d benefit from having a bunch of scantily clad dudes prancing around whenever he gets a chance to head to the line.
