Outside of the state of Texas, Houston Astros fans are a tough thing to come across these days. One could imagine that the baseball world was hoping and praying that the Oakland A’s would have taken care of business as the pre-series favorite against the Astros in this year’s ALDS. Partially because it’s really hard to dislike a team like the Oakland A’s and the other half because the Astros are the easiest team on the planet to dislike after their cheating scandal came to life. But baseball’s biggest villains are on a tear right now and have just advanced to the ALCS.
In baseball, any team can get hot at the right time come playoff time and make a run for the ages. Take a look at the Nationals last year, and right now the Astros are scorching hot. It started with a 2-0 sweep of the Minnesota Twins that has now led to a 3-1 series win over the A’s. Even without their ace Justin Verlander who just underwent Tommy John surgery, this team seems to be on cruise control. Whether it is the Yankees or the Rays, I think we can all agree, someone needs to stop this team immediately.
