In a move that’s got a lot of people scratching their heads, the NFL has decided to ban the University of Houston’s powder blue alternate uniforms.

The “Luv Ya Blue” alternates that had Cougars fans in a frenzy when they made their debut this season.

So, here’s the deal: Houston decided to channel their inner Houston Oilers for the season opener against UTSA, and everyone loved it. But the NFL fired off a cease-and-desist letter to the school, according to the Houston Chronicle, calling it “blatant copying” of their Titans Oilers-inspired throwback jerseys.

Turns out, that “Luv Ya Blue” look is trademarked, and the NFL’s merchandising and licensing aren’t going to give him a pass

You’d think the NFL might cut ’em some slack, given the warm reception these uniforms got, but nope. NFL does stand for ‘No Fun League’

To make things even more interesting, the Titans decided to hop on the nostalgia train this season too. They busted out their own “Luv Ya Blue” jerseys in a recent game against the Falcons and pulled off a 28-23 win.
