The 2024 Major League Baseball regular season came to a close on Sunday (unless you’re a New York Mets/Atlanta Braves) fan, producing scenes of what makes the sport great all across the country.

In Chicago, for example, Cubs outfielder Ian Happ tossed a baseball with a few hundred dollar bills into the left field stands to buy beer for all the fans to thank them for their support this season, which saw the Cubs finish third in the NL Central with a record of 83-79.

“Thanks for the support all season! Beers for the left field crew on me!” Happ wrote on a signed ball.

In the Cubs’ season-ending loss to the Cincinnati Reds, Happ went 0-4 at the plate with one walk.

This season, Happ, who has spent the entirety of his career with the Chicago Cubs, played in 153 games. The 30-year-old outfielder hit for .243 with 25 home runs and 86 RBIs. During his eight seasons with the Chicago Cubs, Happ has averaged .248, and has hit 150 and 478 RBIs.

Happ was drafted out of the University of Cincinnati by the Chicago Cubs with the 9th overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft. In 2022, he was named to his first (and currently only) All-Star team, and has won Gold Glove awards in 2022 and 2023.

The 2024 MLB Postseason will begin on Tuesday, September 31 with a four-pack of games, two of which have yet to be set due to the situation between the Braves and Mets.

To kick off the Wild Card round, the Detroit Tigers will take on the Houston Astros at 2:32 p.m. EST, followed by the Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles at 4:08 p.m.

Then, depending on what happens Monday between the Braves and Mets, the Brewers will host one of those two teams, or the Arizona Diamondbacks, at 5:32 p.m., followed by the San Diego Padres taking on one of those three teams at 8:38 p.m.
