The Indianapolis Colts just traded Carson Wentz earlier today, but many are already speculating about what the team will do to replace Wentz. While there are a few options left out there for the Colts right now, much of the speculation is centering around one player.

That player is Jimmy Garoppolo and according to Ian Rapoport, we can expect to see the Colts in the mix for Jimmy G.

The Indianapolis Colts are in a pretty terrible situation right now. They don’t have a QB on their roster that they can start. They don’t have a first round pick, so they aren’t going to find a QB in the draft this year. That leaves them with options like Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo is fine as a starting NFL QB, but is he an actual upgrade over Wentz? He played for a team with a better defense and significantly better targets to throw to and ended up winning one more game than Wentz this year. He also threw 5 more interceptions than Wentz in 2 less games and even lost to Wentz and the Colts at home this season.

Garoppolo will also likely cost the Colts at least what they got for Wentz. They don’t really have any leverage with teams knowing they have to be pretty desperate for a QB right now and the 9ers don’t necessarily have to trade Garoppolo.

The Indianapolis Colts have put themselves in a really tough spot and it will be interesting to see if Jimmy Garoppolo actually ends up being the solution to their problems.
