Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Chris Claybrooks has been arrested on charges of domestic assault with bodily injury and vandalism after an altercation with his ex-girlfriend at a movie theater in Nashville on April 15.

According to an affidavit, Claybrooks grabbed the woman’s phone from her hand and threw it to the ground, damaging it. The victim sustained multiple bruises and abrasions to her right hand.

Claybrooks has been released on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 1. The charges against him are both misdemeanors.

It appears Claybrooks’ ex-girlfriend had gotten into an argument with Claybrooks in the parking lot of the theater on Saturday after Claybrooks arrived to the movies with another woman.

Claybrooks’ ex-girlfriend informed the woman he was with on the date that she had been with him the night before and can prove it with her phone. The victim alleges that Claybrooks then grabbed her hand and destroyed her phone.

The Jaguars have released a statement acknowledging the incident and stating that they are currently gathering information. John Dever, the team’s senior vice-president and chief communications officer, said that they would have no further comment at this time.

The 25-year old Claybrooks originally entered the league as a Jaguars draft pick in 2020. He played 620 career snaps on defense but has seen his playing time reduced each season. He has 0 interceptions in 46 career games.

The Nashville Police Department has not yet released details of Claybrooks’ arrest, as the case is still open. It is unclear whether Claybrooks turned himself in or was apprehended by police.
