Sports doctors are reacting to the news about Jalen Hurts.
On Monday morning, the Eagles announced that Hurts will be out for the season after he was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli after further testing.
“Over the last few days, Jalen Hurts has received comprehensive medical evaluations by physician experts. In the interest of transparency, we are providing additional information on the diagnosis and treatment plan related to his condition.”
“Jalen was initially diagnosed by specialists in London with a left calf superficial vein thrombosis. After further testing and monitoring, the current diagnosis is a deep vein thrombosis, as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli. He is clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations. His treatment should only involve anticoagulation (i.e. “blood thinners”). During this time, he will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities, including football.”
“Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery. We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners. In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects.”

Ex-NFL doctor David Chao, aka Pro Football Doc, believes Hurts will fully recover with proper treatment.
Jalen Hurts has blood clots in both lungs, ending his season.
The long-term outlook is encouraging. This is very unlikely to be life-threatening, and he should be able to resume his career.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Hurts was told not to sleep for 36 hours before he played the Jaguars in London.

“How committed is Jalen Hurts to football? After initially being diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in London, doctors told him not to sleep as a precaution, so he had been awake for roughly 36 hours when he started against the Jaguars, throwing for 220 yards and a TD.”
Sports doctor Jesse Morse is calling for the Eagles medical team to be fired.
THEY TOLD Jalen Hurts NOT TO SLEEP 🤯
YET THEY STILL LET HIM PLAY.
Are you kidding me right now????
FIRE THE ENTIRE @Eagles MEDICAL STAFF NOW.
THIS IS BLATANT MALPRACTICE.

You shouldn’t be allowed to play a high risk contact sport after 36 hours of sleep deprivation.
That’s basically like playing drunk.
Thats the real story here with Jalen Hurts and the medical decisions.
