The Philadelphia Eagles‘ season just came to an end this weekend in disappointing fashion, but some are already looking toward the team’s future.

The team has a few key players hitting free agency this offseason and a couple of picks in the first round of this year’s draft, which will give them a lot of options for how to handle this offseason.

However, it seems the team’s bigger concern is about a player who could be a free agent next year.

Jalen Hurts only has one year left on his rookie contract and the Eagles are going to try and make sure he heads into the last year of that deal with an extension already signed.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, that extension will be worth more than $45 million and it could potentially be much more than that.

$45 million would put Hurts into the top 5 for highest paid quarterbacks in the league. Only Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, and Kyler Murray currently make more than $45 million per year.

At this point, Hurts deserves every dollar the Eagles can give him.

In just his 3rd season in the league, Hurts put himself into the MVP conversation and led the Eagles to the best record in the NFC before taking them to the Super Bowl.

Hurts was even impressive in the Super Bowl loss. He racked up 304 passing yards, 70 rushing yards, and 4 total touchdowns.

He has clearly established himself as the Eagles’ franchise QB and seemingly put him in the conversation with the league’s top tier of QBs.

Expect to hear an official announcement about the man getting paid sometime soon.
