Miami Dolphins’ star cornerback, Jalen Ramsey, underwent successful surgery on Friday after tearing the meniscus on his left knee at practice.
At the time of Jalen Ramsey’s surgery, it was unclear what the timetable for his return might be. It was assumed he would miss the start of the NFL’s regular season, and as Thursday progressed, it appeared as if Ramsey might not be ready to return until December.
On Friday morning, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said the team would have a more firm timetable for his return after Ramsey’s surgery. Flash forward to this afternoon, and NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting it was a full meniscus repair and Jalen will be out until December.
Rapoport tweeted “Dolphins star Jalen Ramsey did, in fact, undergo a full meniscus repair this morning, sources say, knocking him out until December.
While it takes him off the field for the first half of 2023, it is the best long-term health option for Ramsey. It likely lengthens his career.”

This is a huge blow for the Miami Dolphins. He is arguably the centerpiece of Miami’s defense. But the silver lining is both Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins now have a clearer timeline on the path to recovery.
Following Ramsey’s injury, head coach Mike McDaniel spoke about how moving Jalen’s response was and how he spoke to the team:

My sympathy goes out to fellow Florida State Seminole Jalen Ramsey after this injury. I’ve torn my lateral meniscus twice and it is zero fun going through the surgery and recovery process. But he is a freakish athlete and I’m just me, so it’s safe to assume he’ll beast his way through the recovery process.
