James Madison kicker Camden Wise was locked in as he drilled a 38-yard field goal to put his team up 6-2 in a Thursday night game against Marshall. That make came despite the Thundering Herd’s attempts to troll.

As Wise lined up for the kick, a massive image of Michael Scott flashed across the scoreboard in a hilarious distraction attempt. Steve Carell’s glare of disappointment couldn’t take the kicker off his game.

Points were at a minimum in this low scoring affair, with James Madison taking a 3-0 lead over Marshall into the halftime break. The Thundering Herd would pull closer with a third quarter safety to make the score 3-2.

Camden Wise would be called on for the second time later in the quarter in hopes of extending the slight lead.

And do so, he would.

Wise connected on a 38-yard field goal to push his team’s advantage to 6-2, knocking the kick though the uprights and into the net as if the Dunder Mifflin boss’s face was a target.

College football fans quickly reacted to the hilarious scene on social media.

“This is art,” one follower said.

“This pretty much sums up the night,” another wrote noting the lack of offensive production in the contest.

“This is the perfect picture,” quipped this fan.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen this type of distraction tactic. Earlier in the year, Maryland decided to troll an Illinois kicker with the viral Kevin James meme during a field goal try. That attempt failed, too, with Illini special teamer remaining unfazed.

Luckily for viewers, the scoring picked up after that made field goal. The two teams combined for three quick touchdowns over a five-minute span late in the second half. At the time of this writing, James Madison leads Marshall 20-9 in the fourth quarter.
