Louisville’s Football Coach Is STILL Whining About A Loss To Kentucky More Than 10 Months Ago

Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm is very upset with the officiating during last year’s college football game against Kentucky. He is still whining about the lack of penalties called on the Wildcats in November even though it is Week 4 of the 2024 season.

The 53-year-old suffers from a severe case of little brother syndrome.

Brohm went 10-4 during his first year as head coach of his alma mater. The Cardinals were in the College Football Playoff conversation until they went on the road to Lexington and lost.

Kentucky finished last season with 79 penalties for 661 yards. It averaged six penalties per game for 50 yards. However, the Wildcats were not issued a single penalty during their win in the Governor’s Cup.

That continues to make Jeff Brohm angry. He expressed his frustration with the Southeastern Conference officials during his weekly radio show earlier this week.

There are a few things to break down here.

First and foremost, Kentucky was flagged for a holding penalty. Brohm declined.

On the flip side, Louisville was only called for three penalties, so it’s not like the 3-1 gap was outrageous. That’s more of a testament to the officiating as a whole. They let the boys play!

To make Brohm’s complaints even more ridiculous, one of the three penalties was unnecessary roughness. His player punched an opponent. He was flagged accordingly. So really it was 2-1.

Lets also look at the score!

The Cardinals went up 17-7 with just under six minutes left in the third quarter. They also took a three-point lead into the fourth quarter.

And then the Wildcats won 38-31…

Maybe Jeff Brohm should’ve had his team play better defense. It was not the (lack of) officiating that allowed Kentucky to score 17 points in the final 15 minutes of play.

Perhaps more importantly, Louisville has a challenging conference matchup against Georgia Tech on the scheduled for Saturday. The Yellow Jackets should be the focus right now, not last November. Move on.
