Jerry Jones Refuses To Use Curtains For Cowboys Games Despite AT&T Stadium Having Them

Among the many comical aspects of the Dallas Cowboys being a complete an utter disaster, the fact that their billion-dollar stadium has a (literally) glaring flaw is near the top of the list.

AT&T Stadium, which was built in 2009, faces east and west, which is a notable difference from the overwhelming majority of stadiums that face north and south. This is a problem because the stadium also has a huge window in one end zone, which causes a massive problem when sunlight breaks through the window, often blinding players.

The ugly issue reared its head again on Sunday in Dallas’ embarrassing 47-9 loss to the visiting Detroit Lions.

Of course, there’s an easy fix for this problem. The Cowboys could simply hang a blackout curtain over the window during games where the sun is expected to cause a problem.

But clearly, they don’t have such a thing…right?

Wrong!

AT&T Stadium does have giant blackout curtains to block out the glare and it has used them before. Jerry Jones just chooses not to use them…because reasons?

“I wish to hell all I had to worry about was a ball hitting the screen or a little sun getting in there,” Jones said in a 2022 interview on 105.3 “The Fan” [KRLD-FM]. “Conditions and elements have been a part of football since it was spelled the first time. No. That’s about 10,000 on my list of things to worry about. And, no, we’re not going to do anything with it.”

The WWE used the curtains for WrestleMania 38 in Dallas and several musicians have as well. Jerry Jones, however, opts not to.

It’s another insane display of poor decision-making from one of the NFL’s worst owners.
