The New York Jets are set to host free agent wide receiver Mike Williams this week, and the franchise’s fans are doing everything they can to help persuade him to sign with Gang Green.
On Tuesday, likely tracking reports about when the 29-year-old former Los Angeles Chargers pass catcher would be visiting the Jets facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, a popular Jets account on Twitter, @NYJ_Matt, sent a Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese sandwich from the local Morristown Diner to the facility.
@NYJ_Matt even splurged a little bit and got the sandwich with a double order of eggs. No stone is left unturned when it comes to recruiting free agents, especially when it comes to the Jets.
The Jets’ official Twitter account then replied to the tweet confirming that they received the order. Whether or not it ever reached or was consumed by Williams, however, is another story entirely.

Having upgraded their offensive line in the early stages of free agency, the Jets are hosting Williams in an effort to sign a second receiver for an offensive unit that was largely optionless at the position other than Garrett Wilson, who is a potential blue-chip #1 receiver if alleged Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy for more than four plays.
Williams, however, certainly isn’t the most reliable of targets, as he has been routinely injured throughout the course of his career and only played in three games in 2023. When healthy, he’s one of the best deep threats in the NFL, as he averaged a league-leading 20.4 yards per catch in 2019.
His best years as a pro came between 2019 and 202 when he was able to play in at least 13 games in all four seasons. In two of those years, 2019 and 2021, he also surpassed 1,000 yards receiving.
Williams is also expected to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers this week while on his free agency tour.
