Last year, Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles when making his New York Jets debut in a Monday Night Football game. So, naturally, the NFL has decided to have the Jets Week 1 game this season also be a Monday Night Football matchup.

Not only does Rodgers likely still have a bad taste in his mouth from his last Monday Night Football experience, but to make matters worse for Gang Green, the game will be on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers are not only the current betting favorites to win Super Bowl LIX but they famously have one of the most ferocious defensive front-sevens in the NFL, meaning Rodgers could be in for a long night of running for his life on his recently-repaired 40-year-old Achilles.

Famed Jets fan Mike Greenberg, host of ESPN’s morning show Get Up!, perhaps best summarized the feelings of Gang Green nation with his reaction to the news upon learning about it while live on-air.

If the Jets truly are going to be Super Bowl contenders this year then there’s certainly no better test than having to fly across the country to take on the league’s best roster in their primetime home opener.

With still a couple of months to go until the start of NFL training camps, the 49ers are the current betting favorites to win the Super Bowl with odds of +550. The Jets, on the other hand, don’t even crack the bookies’ top 10 favorites as they currently have odds of +2700, trailing the likes of the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys.
