Jim Harbaugh is being offered big money to return to Michigan.

Ahead of the Rose Bowl, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Michigan has made Harbaugh a massive 10-year. $125 million contract extension. There is one catch to the contract: Harbaugh cannot entertain any NFL offers for at least the next year.

Sources say Harbaugh, whose current deal runs through 2026, received an offer from Michigan for a 10-year, $125-million contract extension that would make him one of the highest-paid coaches in college football. Yet there is a caveat, and it’s NFL-related.

If he signed the deal — which he has not yet done — Harbaugh would agree not to entertain or accept an NFL job for the 2024 season. The NFL clause would be one season only, but that’s apparently been enough to drag out the process.

Earlier this week, Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schulz reported that the Chargers have shown in hiring Harbaugh after firing head coach Brandon Staley.

On the surface, it appears that Michigan is trying to prevent Harbaugh from going to the Chargers, which seems like the most intriguing option for him right now, considering they have a franchise QB in Justin Herbert.

It’ll be interesting to see what Harbaugh decides to do in the coming weeks after college football playoffs end.
