Jim Harbaugh is living his dream. To do so, he is living in an RV. Literally.

But not for much longer!

The 60-year-old head coach’s family is soon going to make the trek from Michigan to California and they will move into their rental house in Los Angeles, together. In the meantime, he has his ideal set up.

Harbaugh, who was named head coach of the Chargers on January 24, first teased the idea of RV life during his introductory press conference a few days later. It was a laughable moment that nobody thought would actually come to exist.

Well, those people (myself included) were wrong. Harbaugh’s brother-in-law drove the family RV out to L.A. shortly after the hire. He told MLive that he has been living there ever since— nearly two full months.

It’s been great. Just being myself. I always wanted to do that (and live in an RV). It worked out great.

As it would turn out, his new offensive coordinator is his next door neighbor. Greg Roman is also living in an RV!

I’m 100 feet from Greg Roman, who has a really, really good RV […]

I’m not as fancy. My Ford Motorcoach hits me just right. It’s been awesome. Yeah, it’s been really good. I go back there, it’s a good time to think. It’s just been great.

While Harbaugh has enjoyed RV life thus far, his two-month residency is soon coming to an end. His family recently held a garage sale and sold some of his Michigan gear for cheap before they make the move out West. They joined the patriarch in Orlando for the annual NFL coaches meeting. Their new life in Southern California will begin once things wrap up in Florida.

Now that’s coming to an end — happily coming to an end — because my family is coming to California. They’re all here on this trip, and we’re all going to California together. We’ll be moving into our rental house and that’s even better.

Harbaugh got a taste of the life he desired, in an RV down by the beach like Jim Rockford. It is time for him to return to his family in a more logical living arrangement. Makes sense.

He did not indicate whether Roman will be doing the same so there is still hope that the active offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers could live in an RV during training camp and/or the regular season. There is no way that wouldn’t be a first!
