The job’s not finished for Jimmy Butler.

On Monday night, the Miami Heat advanced to the NBA finals after defeating the Boston Celtics in game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

During the trophy presentation, Miami center Bam Adebayo turned to Butler and offered to hand him the trophy. Butler immediately refused and told Adebayo that he would “I’ll hold the next one.”

While speaking to the media, Butler confirmed that he wasn’t satisfied with just winning the Eastern Conference finals.

“I just know why Coach Pat [Riley] and Coach Spo [Erik Spoelstra] wanted me to be here,” Butler said. “That’s to compete at a high level and win championships. … Nobody’s satisfied. We haven’t done anything. We don’t play just to win the Eastern Conference. We play to win the whole thing.”

“I know the work that we all put in to it, so I know what we’re capable of…we don’t play just to win the Eastern Conference, we play to win the whole thing.”

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra praised Butler for his confidence and attitude that helped lead the team back to the NBA finals.

“You have to have a guy that you can hold on to, particularly in those moments of truth,” Spoelstra said of Butler. “I’ve said this before, there’s no way to quantify the confidence that he can instill in everybody.”
