Timberwolves rookie Jarrett Culver has a brother named J.J. and it turns out the guy knows how to put the ball in the basket.

The Wayland Baptist University senior became the second player in NAIA basketball history to score 100 points on the night. While the 100 points are beyond impressive, perhaps the wilder stat is that he scored the first 42 points of the game for his team.

According to the Plainview Herald, the gameplan heading into the contest against Southwestern Adventist was simple, feed Culver the ball and let him try to break Wayland’s single-game scoring record by dropping 50. Safe to say he had that wrapped up seeing as how he broke the record in the first half.

“After I broke the record, I knew I could score a lot more,” Culver told the Herald. “I had the record at halftime and they were like, ‘J.J., can you get 75? 80?’. I was like, ‘Honestly, guys, I think I can get 100.’ They were like okay, okay.”

Culver put up 62 shots going 34-for-62 from the field including 12-for-33 from deep giving him a 54.8 percent shooting percentage on the night. He also went 20-of-27 from the free-throw line. Grinnell College’s Jack Taylor is the only other player to score 100 points in a game and he did it twice in back-to-back seasons in 2012 and 2013.

Jarrett was pretty pumped up for his brother, to say the least.
