Joe Mixon claims he flew on the same Learjet 60 that crashed in Florida

Former Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon claims that he flew on the same private jet, with the same two pilots, just weeks before it crashed in Florida on Sunday, November 1, killing all nine people aboard.

Joe Mixon, a two-time Pro Bowler during his time in the NFL, took to social media to express his “devastation” over the accident and pay tribute to the two pilots, 55-year-old Jeff Gregory and 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras.

Joe Mixon says he flew on same Learjet with same pilots weeks before deadly Florida crash

“Absolutely devastated by yesterday’s tragic plane crash in Florida and the loss of all nine lives,” Mixon wrote.

“I flew on that exact aircraft last month with those same two pilots. They were incredible professionals and genuinely wonderful people.”

Mixon also specifically acknowledged Filgueiras, who earned her private pilot’s license at just 17 years old while still attending high school, before she had even gotten her driver’s license.

“Hearing the young woman’s story and learning about the bright future she had ahead of her makes it even more heartbreaking that her life was cut so short,” Mixon said.

The Learjet 60 crashed in Greenacres, Florida, on Sunday afternoon while traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas. The aircraft encountered icing conditions and severe turbulence before entering a steep, uncontrolled descent and crashing near a mobile home park in Palm Beach County.

All nine people aboard the aircraft were killed, including tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, 44, his wife Helen Sharp, their children Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, and the family’s nanny, Anita Maria Cetina.

The crash is currently being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board, which revealed Tuesday that pieces of the aircraft’s tail had been discovered nearly four miles from the crash site, indicating that the plane had begun breaking apart before impact.

The official cause of the crash has not yet been determined and is currently under investigation by the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board).

Mixon, who most recently played for the Houston Texans in 2024, missed the entire 2025 season due to a foot injury and is currently a free agent.
