The Johnny Football Experience was a brief one. After a lackluster outing in relief of Brian Hoyer during last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Cleveland Browns are sitting their rookie back down.
The AP first had the scoop.
Cleveland’s struggling veteran quarterback kept his job and will start Sunday against Indianapolis after first-year coach Mike Pettine decided he would be a better choice to lead the Browns down the stretch than Manziel, the super-hyped rookie who gave the team a spark last week in a loss at Buffalo.
With the Browns still hunting for their first playoff spot in forever, it’s the safe, smart move. We can’t say we approve, but we’ll always have Buffalo. And the memes. Johnny Memeziel. Just came up with that one.
