Jon Rahm Nearly Snaps Driver Over Knee During Frustrating First Round At The Masters

Jon Rahm knows his way around Augusta National Golf Course. The 2023 Masters Champion has traditionally played well at Augusta, though he was not good at all last year.

Unfortunately, that carried over into this year, as Rahm did not play well at all in the first round of the 2025 edition of The Maters on Thursday. In fact, at one point, he looked like he was about to snap his driver over his leg.

Rahm, who joined the LIV Tour for the 2024 season and has been a mainstay on the LIV Tour since, has not fared well in Majors since, with just one top-ten and two poor results in three starts last year. He was hoping to turn that around, but it didn’t happen.

He especially struggled early on, shooting a +3 39 on the front nine before shooting an even-par 36 on the back.

After a poor tee shot at Hole 9, Rahm looked like he was going to snap his driver over his knee. Take a look.

There have been reports of players wanting to leave LIV and it wouldn’t surprise me if Rahm, who reportedly got $400 million to play there, was one of them. His play has significantly diminished since joining LIV, and you can really see his frustrations come out.

Rahm was able to salvage his round to give him a chance to make the cut, but he’s ten shots back of Justin Rose, who fired a 65 to lead by 3.
