Cleveland Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot is one of the most respected in the business. The insider was recently honored for her successes that have spanned across a lengthy professional career.
Cabot received recognition from the Pro Football Writers Association with the Bill Nunn Memorial Award. She referenced Bill Belichick and his relationship with Jordon Hudson in her acceptance speech.
Cabot began covering the Browns in 1991. Hudson, meanwhile, was born a decade later in 2001.
Belichick was Cleveland’s head coach from ’91 to ’95. The two did not always see eye to eye with the organization posting a 36-44 overall record with Belichick at the helm.
Cabot spoke on her prior interactions with the NFL legend while addressing the crowd.
Mary Kay Cabot reignited her rivalry with Bill Belichick.

“Belichick was the first Browns coach I ever covered,” she said. “If you start out with Bill Belichick, no one can rattle you after that. If Bill didn’t like something I wrote, he’d call and yell at me. If you asked a dumb question, he’d call you out.
“Eventually, I had to stand up to him. During one of those yelling matches, I told him, ‘If you don’t have the [foot]balls to say that to the guys, then don’t say it to me.’ BAM!
“Now, I totally understand why Bill gave me such a hard time. I was 28 at the time, and he just couldn’t relate to a woman that old.”
Belichick’s relationship has been under the spotlight this offseason.
The coach will soon enter Year 1 at the University of North Carolina. His girlfriend, Hudson, was reportedly banned from the football facility just a few months into his tenure amid a string of controversial moments.
Her presence on the field was concerning during spring practice in April. Her required inclusion on all email communication was equally as eyebrow raising.
Even their origin story has been a topic of contention, though it’s one that Hudson refuses to touch on.
The negative headlines have been enough to anger a notable portion of the faculty and donor base. But of all the storylines involved in the drama, the age difference seems to be the most talked about aspect of the relationship.
How old is Jordon Hudson?
Hudson is 24 years old. Belichick is 73.
The coach’s girlfriend says they met on a plane in 2021, bonding over their love for deductive logic.
Some have gone as far as to call the relationship “elder abuse,” a narrative further fueled by reports of her amassing $8 million worth of assets since the couple started dating.
Despite the negativity surrounding the relationship, the beauty pageant competitor and former college cheerleader suggested that the pair was engaged earlier this year.
Hudson has always been quick to defend both her soon-to-be husband and their relationship. Often, the internet is her outlet for attention.
Jordon Hudson is considered “Gen Z,” having been born between 1997 and 2012. She responded to Mary Kat Cabot’s jab as one would expect – with a cryptic post on social media.
Hudson clapped back at the Bill Belichick shade.
After hearing Cabot’s swipe, Hudson responded by reposting a comment on social media.
Not much of a “laugh.”
No wonder so many have contempt for the media, especially those who want to be the story rather than report on the story.
Hudson took offense to the jab. She’s become annoyed that her relationship continues to be a talking point.
Cabot, meanwhile, clarified her intentions after seeing the initial online reaction. “It was a joke,” she wrote on X. “Not a ‘savage shot.’ Just a little joke! You can see that from my delivery. All in good fun.”
That joke got clearly got under Hudson’s skin.
