The Bills seem to be doing just fine without the talents of Stefon Diggs, and Josh Allen had to clarify he wasn’t dissing his former teammate after seemingly doing exactly that following the team’s most recent win.

In 2020, the Buffalo Bills sent a handful of draft picks to the Minnesota Vikings to acquire a new offensive weapon in the form of Stefon Diggs, the wide receiver who wasted no time establishing chemistry with Josh Allen while transforming into one of his favorite targets.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse after Diggs became increasingly frustrated with his role in the Buffalo offense and the team’s repeated inability to punch its ticket to the Super Bowl.

That discontent began to grow during the 2022 season and continued to linger last year before the Bills decided to move on by trading Diggs to the Texans a day after the WR hopped on Twitter to imply he was “essential” to Allen’s success.

We officially got the chance to put that theory to the test when the Bills kicked off the 2024 campaign, and based on what’s transpired so far, it would appear it has been debunked when you consider Buffalo has gotten off to 3-0 with the help of an offensive scheme where six different members of the team caught a TD during their 47-10 rout of the Jaguars on Monday night.

It appeared Allen threw some shade at Diggs when he spoke with the media after the game and praised his teammates for their mentality, noting, “It’s a fun and wonderful thing when you got a bunch of guys that don’t care about the stats, they don’t care about the touchdowns.”

It sure seemed like the QB was implying Diggs was a guy who cared a lot about stats and touchdowns, but according to ESPN, he tried to dismiss that notion while addressing that comment on Wednesday, saying:

“I know there’s a lot of people talking out there, again, I’m not trying to tear down anybody. I’ve loved everybody that I’ve played with, and you don’t have to tear other people down to build each other up…

I love 14, I still do. But everyone wants to keep making this thing a thing. We’re so focused on what’s going on inside of our building and that’s the only thing we’re caring about right now.”

I’ll let you come to your own conclusion when it comes to determining if that was actually the case.
