The New York Knicks are one of the hottest teams in the NBA. The franchise has been a laughingstock for years, but after making the playoffs as the fourth seed two years ago, they appear to be even better this year.

After a slow 10-13 start, the Knicks have been on a tear, and they’ve gone 27-14 since then heading into Friday night’s game on the road against the Miami Heat. That 27-14 mark since December 3rd is in the top four of the entire NBA.

And, heading into Friday night’s game, the Knicks had won seven straight, including five games by double digits against playoff teams like the Celtics, Nets and Hawks.

New York jumped out to a 71-54 lead at halftime Friday in Miami, but the Heat rallied back and took the lead with 5:45 left in the game on a Caleb Martin 3. The teams traded buckets until Tyler Herro put Miami up with 23.0 seconds left.

Then, Julius Randle hit the signature shot of his career and got the ultra-rare double bang call from storied announcer Mike Breen.

Bang! Bang!

What a shot for Randle and the Knicks. Randle finished with 43 on 16/25 shooting.

Everyone was loving the double bang.

If you’re wondering, here are all the double bangs of Breen’s career. It’s the first one earned by a Knick player, which is impressive when you consider he is their main play-by-play guy.

The Knicks have now won eight straight and are just one game back of the fourth-seeded Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Standings as the team improves to 38-27.
