Last night’s game against the Washington Commanders was a tough one for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields. Not only did the Bears come up just short in the game, losing 12-7 after Darnell Mooney barely failed to cross the goal line, but Fields also took some serious punishment in the game.

Fields was sacked 5 times by the Commanders and even when he managed to get rid of the ball, he was still getting repeatedly getting drilled by the defense. Throughout the game, it seemed like every time the camera cut to Fields, he appeared to be struggling to get off of the turf.

Despite the repeated hits he took in the game, Fields isn’t worried about the physical pain in the aftermath of the game. Fields said, “I’m hurting pretty good, but we’ve got a long weekend so I’ve got time to heal up.”

However, he seems to be having a tougher time dealing with the emotional toll of continuing to lose close games.

Justin Fields is tired of the Chicago Bear being “almost there

Everybody’s mad. Nobody’s happy about this loss. We always get told that we are almost there, almost there. Me personally, I’m tired of being almost there. I’m tired of being just this close.

The Bears have only had one game decided by double digits this year, a road loss to the Green Bay Packers. 4 of their other 5 games have been decided by 1 score. In those games, the Bears are 1-3.

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely much is going to change for the Bears until they can actually protect Fields. Until then, they could continue to be “almost there” in low-scoring matchups where they just can’t find that one big play they need.
