Kansas Made College Baseball History By Mashing FIVE-STRAIGHT Home Runs At An NFL Stadium

Kansas set a college baseball record on Wednesday while playing at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, which normally houses the Minnesota Vikings from August to January. The Jayhawks went back-to-back-to-back-to-back… to-back again.

They hit five-straight home runs at a stadium built for the NFL!

Kansas, which typically known as a basketball school, is off to an extremely hot start during the 2025 college baseball season. Not only did the students buy into the program behind free beer and hot dogs, the Jayhawks have had the ball bounce their way on a few different occasions en route to a 14-2 record. It seems like this could finally be the year that they make a run to the postseason if they can stay hot.

Wednesday was the perfect example of what this team can do. Although Kansas lost to Minnesota in Game 1 of their mid-week miniseries, it bounced back with a 28-run (!!) win in Game 2. That is not a typo.

The Gophers allowed five runs in the second inning, eight runs in the third inning, three runs in the fourth inning, eight runs in the fifth inning, one run in the sixth inning and four innings in the seventh inning. The game ended after only seven innings because of the 10-run rule.

Due to the cold weather in Minnesota, its flagship university begins the college baseball season at U.S. Bank Stadium. It is a unique configuration where home plate is dropped down in one of the end zones. The other end zone serves as the left field wall.

Dimensions are as follow:

  • Left field: 328 feet
  • Left-center field: 375 feet
  • Center field: 400 feet
  • Right-center field: 350 feet
  • Right field: 300 feet

Purdue hit a grand slam at Minnesota over the weekend and it looked extremely weird, but the unusual setup works well enough for the first 10 home games. Kansas also hit a grand slam on Wednesday. It was Chase Diggins’ seventh RBI of the afternoon and it looked just as weird.

However, that was not the most impressive feat by the Jayhawks. They hit five-straight home runs during the top of the third inning. Diggins got the party started with a three-run blast.

Max Soliz kept things going with a solo shot.

The Gophers immediately went to the bullpen but the pitching change did not matter. Brady Counsel, son of Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsel, made it three-straight home runs on the first pitch!

And then Brady Ballinger stepped into the box to make it four in a row!

Why stop at four when you can make it five?! Jackson Hauge crushed his second home run of the day to extend the streak.

Needless to say, it was an offensive onslaught for the Jayhawks. I have never seen a college baseball team five consecutive home runs at a baseball stadium, let along an NFL stadium! What an inning!
