It is ridiculously cold in Kansas City as the Chiefs host the Dolphins in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs. An unprecedented arctic blast saw temperatures plummet to -2º at Arrowhead Stadium as kickoff rolled around on Saturday night.
The wind chill made it feel more like -12º. To say that you could see your breath would be an understatement. Players’ heads were literally steaming.
Windows on the Taylor Swift suite were frozen over!
Some players were wearing wetsuits under their uniforms. Others, based on history, popped a Viagra to try and keep the blood pumping.
There isn’t really all that much you can do when it’s that cold outside. At some point, everything just kind of… goes numb.
Fortunately, the players are moving. Their bodies are active.
The same cannot be said for those in the stands, though they can bundle up a little better. That doesn’t take away from the sub-zero temperatures.
It was so cold that the coolers at the stadium were keeping drinks warm. No, seriously!
Think about that for a second. It was so cold outside, that the giant refrigerators full of beers and other drinks were actually warming what was inside.
How do we know? Water bottles were literally freezing over from the top-down within 20 seconds of being removed from the fridge. Check it out:
That’s insane. Most people who live in regions of the country with cold weather have accidentally left a water bottle in the cupholder overnight. The water bottle is frozen solid when you get back to the car in the morning.
Now expedite that process to just 17 seconds. It’s that cold in Kansas City on Saturday night.
