The Kansas City Chiefs’ social media manager should have probably read the room before hitting send on the team’s latest Twitter post.
On Monday afternoon, the Chiefs’ official Twitter account posted an image of three players with the caption “The landlord pulls up with these guys to collect rent… what do you do?”

Apparently “the landlord’ is one of Tyrann Mathieu’s nicknames but fans were still outraged considering millions of people in the United States are currently getting evicted from their homes due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
People are homeless without food. I'm ashamed the Chiefs put this on Twitter. @Chiefs

Joking about collecting rent… when facing a pandemic in a city where evictions are at a all time high is not the move @Chiefs https://t.co/kZd2RipJ3i

Bad optics during a pandemic when tons of people are being forcibly evicted during the winter

The Chiefs eventually deleted the post from their Twitter account following the backlash from fans.
