It’s been another good year for the Kansas City Chiefs through the first 7 weeks of the season.

They are once again reigning atop the AFC West with a 5-2 record and nobody in their division looks like they will be dethroning them any time soon.

The offense remains one of the most explosive in the NFL and have topped 40 points 3 times this season, including last week against one of the league’s best defenses. They are currently leading the league in points per game at 31.9.

Despite all of the team’s success to start the season, it seems not every member of the Chiefs is pleased with their current situation.

The Chiefs signed Ronald Jones during the offseason to join their backfield, but the move hasn’t exactly worked out for him. He has yet to receive a single carry as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Today, he took to Twitter to express his frustrations with the situation. Jones posted to request a release from the Chiefs.

After being drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2nd round of the 2018 draft, Jones has not quite lived up to his hype. Jones was unable to beat Peyton Barber for the starting job during his rookie season.

He then earned the role during his 2nd season, but wasn’t productive enough to keep the Bucs from signing Leonard Fournette. Jones actually had the best season of his career in the first year splitting the backfield with Fournette.

The following year, Fournette took over the backfield and Jones was limited to just over 100 carries. A year later, he found himself looking for a new team.

He landed with the Chiefs, but hasn’t been able to carve out any kind of a role with Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jerrick McKinnon, and Isiah Pacheco taking all of the touches in the running game.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Chiefs decide they don’t need to hold on to Jones as he doesn’t have much of a role for them right now. Unfortunately it’s tough to see exactly where he could go that he’d get a bigger role.
