Former LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte was very confident in his ability to succeed during a game against Florida State on Sept. 4, 2022. Unfortunately, he choked.

And it may have cost him a lot of money in the process!

Boutte, who was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, allegedly placed nearly 9,000 bets between April of 2022 and May of 2023. The 21-year-old was arrested Thursday on charges related to illegal online gambling.

Many of the wagers were supposedly placed inside of the Tigers’ football operations building while he was a student — underage. According to the affidavit, they were placed under not-so-sneaky usernames: ‘kayshonboutte7’ and ‘kayshonboutte01.’

Perhaps Boutte thought that the best way to hide was in plain sight?

Of the insane amount of bets placed, some of them were wagers on his own team or outcomes related to LSU football. Including himself.

The affidavit states that Boutte placed an eight-leg parlay prior to Week 1 of the 2022 college football season. It included two bets on his own output:

  • Kayshon Boutte — OVER 82.5 receiving yards
  • Kayshon Boutte — anytime touchdown scorer

He caught just two passes for 20 yards in the one-point loss to the Seminoles. No touchdowns.

It was a brutal day at the office that included multiple drops.

Boutte was visibly upset during a meltdown on the sideline.

He wass frustrated by his lack of production, in a game that could set the tone for the entire season, in a year that was crucial to his draft stock. However, it is even funnier to imagine that he was also furious with his lack of receiving yards and lack of touchdown scored because of his parlay.

Boutte did not play well in that game and his parlay didn’t cash!
