The biggest knock on Kenny Pickett when he entered the NFL Draft was the size of his hands. There was a widespread concern that the former Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback would not be able to hold onto the ball when he got to the next level.

He unfortunately proved the hand size haters correct on Sunday with the funniest fumble of the entire season.

Pickett, the No. 20 overall pick in 2022, went to great lengths to increase his hand size prior to the draft. Although some of his unusual techniques were effective, the 2021 ACC Player of the Year recorded a below-average measurement at the NFL Combine after he initially refused to get measured at the Senior Bowl. His tiny hands later raised concerns at training camp on a botched snap. You get the idea.

Now in his third year in the NFL, the Steelers’ former first-round pick serves as the backup to Jalen Hurts on the Eagles. He was thrust into the starting lineup against the Cowboys.

Kenny Pickett actually played pretty well during Philadelphia’s blowout win. However, he did not finish the game after a rib injury during the second half and it is easy to succeed when Saquon Barkley is the running back.

Prior to that point, Pickett was on the wrong end of an embarrassing play during the second quarter. The ball got stuck in his hand after a defender made contact during the throwing motion and it resulted in a hilarious fumble. Here is how it happened in real time:

This replay is by far the most comical:

Some people might say that Kenny Pickett debunked the hand size issue because the ball stayed in his hand long enough to be a backwards pass. On the contrary!

If Pickett had bigger hands, he would not be wearing gloves. The gloves are sticky, which helped the ball to stay in his hand. That would’ve been an incomplete pass. Additionally, if Pickett had bigger hands and was wearing still gloves, he would’ve been able to hold onto the ball instead of fumbling. Stay woke!
