With nine days until Selection Sunday, Kentucky head basketball coach John Calipari is hopeful that his Wildcats can make a run to his second national championship. To etch his name alongside some of the all-time greats, the 63-year-old needs to win a second title.

It’s a must.

The pressure of a full college basketball season, in addition to the mounting weight of a ticking clock slowly counting down on Calipari’s chances at hoisting a trophy for the second time is a lot for anyone to handle. However, Kentucky’s head man has a very specific, relatable way of staying fresh for March.

He spoke with the media on Friday and said that the key to staying focused is workout out each day. Calipari said that he lifts weights, but like so many of us, there are two reasons that you can’t tell that he lifts weights.

  1. He wears comfortable, loose-fitting clothes.
  2. He loves to eat.

To describe the way that he follows up his workouts with food, Calipari used a very vivid metaphor. He said that once he’s done getting his pump in, he eats like there is literally no tomorrow.

Although his explanation for how much he eats may have been a little aggressive, it might be the most relatable thing that a college basketball coach has ever said. Keep on keeping on, Coach Calipari.
