A Kentucky Hoops Player Was Found By Cops Passed Out On The Street And Drunk Next To His Car

The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball program is one of the most prestigious in the country, routinely bringing in top talent and shipping them off to the Association as if they were the gift that keeps on giving to NBA teams. One way to jeopardize that dream is to do what soon-to-be senior Derek Willis just did.

Willis—who, according to WCPO, was arrested for public intox this past weekend—wasn’t just seen pounding a few brews at a buddies house, but was discovered by cops on the side of the road and passed out next to his car.

Per the WCPO report:

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department says Willis stated he had “a lot” to drink when he was arrested for public intoxication.

Willis was arrested for a first and second offense and was later released after paying a $50 bond. A Kentucky athletics spokeswoman said the school is aware of the situation and is gathering information. She declined to comment.

The 20-year-old small forward was a key contributor off the bench for the Cats last season.
