The NBA only had a couple of games scheduled last night, but they were both big games. One of those games featured the first matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets since their deal at the trade deadline.

Unfortunately for the 76ers, the game didn’t go anywhere near according to plan. Led, by 25 points from Kevin Durant, 24 from former 6er Seth Curry, and 22 from Kyrie Irving, the Nets demolished the 6ers.

The Nets led by at least 20 points for every second of the second half and even extended the lead to 36 at one point. To make things even sweeter for the Nets, they held James Harden to 11 points on a miserable 3/17 from the field.

The only thing 76ers fans had going for them on the night was they got to heckle Ben Simmons early on in his first appearance in Philly since last season. Even that didn’t last long though and Kevin Durant dropped a great quote after the game on why it didn’t last.

This win had to feel great for the Brooklyn Nets. The team hasn’t been at its best in quite some time and many were questioning their status as a real contender this season. On top of that, it seemed like some were ready to hand the 76ers the Eastern Conference title after Harden’s first two games with the team, impressive wins over the fearsome Timberwolves and Knicks.

This could be a big turning point for the Nets and it shows that they are still a very dangerous team when they have Irving and Durant on the floor together.
