The Atlanta Falcons signed QB Kirk Cousins this week, a move TE Kyle Pitts has likely seen coming for some time. Cousins revealed an interesting tidbit about his new pass catcher in his introductory press conference, unintentionally calling his bluff on a statement made in early March.

That online remark came in rebuttal to an update given by NFL insider Mike Florio, with Pitts denying a report that he’d been in contact with his soon-to-be signal caller. After receiving initial criticism on social media, Florio now has redemption!

The interaction came after Florio made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show to discuss offseason hearsay on the free agent market. Cousins was a part of that conversation, with the insider linking him to Atlanta.

He went as far as to say that he’d been in contact with members of the Falcons roster, claiming those talks had gotten far enough that Cousins and Pitts were discussing jersey number arrangements with both wearing No. 8.

A done deal!

Apparently not, according to Pitts, who reposted the interview along with a caption that said, “This actually is funny. You guys come up with anything!”

Fast forward about 10 days later, and that denial rings hollow – with Cousins even noting a number-change conversation in his opening presser!

Pitts knew, and Florio has been redeemed!

The Kyle Pitts conversation wasn’t the only tidbit dropped in Kirk Cousins’ introductory press conference. In fact, the QB may have landed his new team in hot water by admitting to being in contact with training personnel a bit too early – potentially costing the Falcons a draft pick.

Whatever the case, Atlanta just got a major upgrade under center. The Falcons should be an NFC South contender in 2024 after Cousins’ addition, which has been no secret to players on the current roster!
