Knox Kiffin scored his first touchdown for Oxford High School on Friday. The son of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin also picked up the first unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of his high school football career for doing his best impression of Shedeur Sanders.

It was a weak penalty but you know how referees can be…

Kiffin’s first high school football rivalry in Mississippi was a great success. His future is very bright!

Who is Knox Kiffin?

Lane Kiffin has three children— two daughters, one son. Knox is the only boy and the youngest sibling.

He was actually named after Knoxville, Tennessee while Lane was employed by the Volunteers but his name has since been changed to Knox(ford) in honor of Oxford, Mississippi.

Knox, like his father, plays quarterback. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound (ish) signal-caller recently began his sophomore year of high school at a new school.

He and his mother moved from Los Angeles to the Magnolia State to be closer to Lane and the Rebels.

Knox will play the remainder of his high school football career at Oxford High School. The Chargers are 12-time regional champions and a consistent presence in the state playoffs.

Although Knox Kiffin currently serves as the backup to Drew Dean, he is already on the radar of college coaches. He unleashed an absolute bomb during a west coast workout over the summer, dropped at dime at SMU to earn his first D1 scholarship offer, and threw darts at Alabama.

And he can scoot!

Shedeur Sanders is a direct influence on the youth.

Knox scored his first touchdown at Oxford during a blowout win over crosstown rival Lafayette on Friday night. His offensive line cleared a huge running lane that allowed him to cut back up the middle and score.

It was a great play call!

However, Knox Kiffin was flagged for excessive celebration. He threw up his wrist toward the Commodores’ band in the back of the end zone like Shedeur Sanders.

Even Shedeur himself gave the young quarterback some love on Instagram.

Sanders’ signature celebration points to a (imaginary) luxury watch on his wrist. It started in 2023 when he flexed his $100,000+ timepiece during a pregame altercation with Nebraska and grew from there.

The celebration was so popular that it became a part of common vernacular. Even my mother knows what it means to ‘hit the Shedeur.’

Unfortunately, the perfectly timed (pun intended) celebration led Knox Kiffin to pick up the first unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of his high school football career after he scored his first touchdown at Oxford. Fortunately, it did not have an impact on the final score. The Chargers won by 43.
