It’s been over three years since the tragic accident that took the life of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and the seven other individuals involved.

Many across the world have shared their grievances, as Bryant was an icon people looked up to. People still use his “Mamba Mentality” to this day.

Now, it sounds like the Los Angeles Lakers will do their part in honoring the legendary basketball player.

According to NBA Central and The Daily Mail, the Lakers are going to honor Kobe Bryant, and his daughter Gigi, with a statue outside of Crypto Arena. It will also include “a nod to his jersey numbers, 8 and 24.”

The statue will be unveiled on August 8, 2024. A rather fitting date for Bryant.

We won’t know what the statue will look like for a whole year. However, the unveiling ceremony will likely be emotional.

Lakers fans, and basketball fans from across the globe, will probably flock to Crypto Arena that day just to see a glimpse of the new statue.

This announcement comes just in time of Nike’s latest announcement, as the popular sports apparel brand announced they’re bringing back Kobe Bryant’s brand back to market.

At the end of the day, this is a great gesture from the Lakers organization.

Kobe Bryant was the face of the organization from the late 1990s until he retired in 2016.

So, the least the Lakers can do is honor Kobe Bryant with his very own statue. On top of that, it’s awesome that they will be incorporating Gigi in the statue as well.
