The Koenigsegg Jesko, which previously set a world record as the first 300 MPH car, has just set four new speed records including a world record for the fastest from 0 to 250 MPH.

This hypercar is just comically fast. Every time I see news about it I’m reminded of how it is basically a rocket on four wheels. A video of the Koenigsegg Jesko screaming up a mountain at the Festival of Speed last Summer caught my attention and I hadn’t thought much about Koenigsegg between then and now until this news came across my desk.

This quartet of new world records set by the Koenigsegg Jesko were clocked at an airfield in Örebro, Sweden where a Jesko Absolut was driven by Koenigsegg factory test driver Markus Lundh. The four world records set by the Koenigsegg Jesko are: 0-400-0 km/h – 27.83 seconds, 0-400 km/h – 18.82 seconds, 0-250-0 mph – 28.27 seconds, and 0-250 mph – 19.20 seconds. Koenigsegg released a video of the action:

One aspect of all this that I find insanely impressive is they were breaking their own records. The records were previously held by the Koenigsegg Regera.

There is certainly a ton of value to be had in holding/breaking world records but the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is a $3.4 million hypercar if one can even be found for sale (even harder because one recently burned down). And all of the Koenigsegg Regera owners might now be wondering why their car’s manufacturer went out and broke their car’s world records when they had those bragging rights for the past year.

All that said, it is worth acknowledging how far Koenigsegg has come in the past 5 years. The Regera set the 0-to-400-to-0 km/h record back in 2019 in 31.49 seconds:

The Jesko above shaved 3.66 seconds off that world record which was completely mind blowing at the time. It is wild to imagine where Koenigsegg will be in five years from now. For more on this record-setting achievement, visit Koenigsegg’s website for the full press release.
