The Miami Hurricanes caught a vicious stray from a former Middle Tennessee punter looking to land an NFL opportunity with the Dolphins. Camped outside of Hard Rock Stadium, Kyle Ulbrich has been seen posting signage along the sidewalks detailing his resume.
Those messages highlight his NCAA accomplishments with the Blue Raiders as he begs Miami to give him a chance. In the process, he threw a thinly veiled jab at “The U.”
Ulbrich’s list of accolades is a long one. He’s the school’s single-season leader in punt average at 47.1 yards per attempt. He landed All-Conference USA honors as a senior while being named to the Ray Guy Award watch list on three separate occasions.
In his final year in Murfreesboro, he finished second nationally in punt average.
Now out of college eligibility, he’s looking to take the next step – and he’s doing everything in his power to force teams to take notice. That included this Hard Rock Stadium campout where he flaunted those past honors.
Personal stats weren’t the only thing listed on his handwritten resume, though. He made a point to detail his team’s success in the Dolphins‘ home stadium, too.
“Undefeated at Hard Rock,” one of those signs read. Many know that the venue is not only home to the Dolphins, but also to the Miami Hurricanes.

Looking back on his senior season, Ulbrich was a key player in Middle Tennessee State’s upset win over the Hurricanes. Adding insult to injury, Miami actually paid MTSU $1.5 million for that out-of-conference beating.
In the game, which the Blue Raiders won 45-31, Ulbrich punted five times for an average of 51.8 yards per attempt. His longest was a 66-yard boot, one of three 50+ yarders on the day.
He played a major role in field position, helping his team pull the upset – and he’s not letting anyone forget!
We’ll see if the punter’s tactics land him a tryout with the Dolphins. He’s certainly doing all he can to highlight his personal success in South Beach.
