Kyler Murray knows what it takes to win a Heisman Trophy seeing as how he took one home a year ago at Oklahoma and right now he’s giving the nod to the quarterback that plays down on the bayou.

While one would think Murray would go with Jalen Hurts at Oklahoma, Murray thinks Joe Burrow is leading the Heisman race at this point of the season. Murray does get a vote for the award as a former winner, too.

“Our guy [Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts] kind of took a hit with that loss,” Murray told ESPN. “I think right now, if somebody had to win, it’d probably be Joe Burrow.”

Burrow is the favorite to win the coveted award at the moment, according to Bovada, at -110. Hurts sits at +250, Tua Tagovailoa +375, Justin Fields +750 and Chase Young rounds out the top five at +950.

The LSU quarterback sits second in the nation in total passing yards with 2,805 yards through the air. Quick shoutout to Anthony Gordon at Washington State who leads the nation with a whopping 3,387 passing yards.

Burrow has been remarkable all season long taking the new-look LSU offense to a crazy new level. He’s clicking at a 78.8% completion rate, has thrown two touchdowns in seven of eight games including six against Vanderbilt earlier in the year and his touchdown to interception ratio is 30-4 this season.

Unbeaten LSU travels to unbeaten Alabama on Saturday for the most anticipated game of the college football season and if Burrow can beat the Tide then it is absolutely his Heisman to lose. The same could possibly be said for Tagovailoa if he has a big game and No. 3 Alabama can beat No. 2 LSU.
