Los Angeles Lakers Fans Chant ‘Thank You Nico’ During Luka Doncic’s First Game Against Mavericks

It’s still hard to believe that Luka Doncic is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. The Groundhog Day trade centered around Luka Doncic to Los Angeles and Anthony Davis to the Mavericks was as shocking as any trade in league history.

Lakers fans are thrilled, as they now have their superstar of the next decade on the team, and it made them fringe title contenders this year as he forms a great duo with LeBron James. They let Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison know just how happy they were when they thanked him via chant during Tuesday’s game that saw Luka take on his former team for the first time.

Doncic and the Lakers beat the Lakers 107-99 behind a fantastic final quarter from LeBron James and a 19-point, 15-rebound, 12-assist triple-double from Doncic. Luka struggled from the floor, shooting just 6-17. But, he got it done in other ways.

The future of the Los Angeles lakers was pretty murky with LeBron at 40 and Anthony Davis on the wrong side of 30 before the Luka Doncic trade. Now, it appears that the team will have a megastar for the next decade. That’s something that Lakers fans are used to having, and they have Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison to thank.

They even turned their appreciation for Harrison into a chant. Take a look.

Harrison was in Los Angeles for the game on Friday night. Honestly, I have to give him some credit for that. It was a road game, and he could’ve easily stayed behind. But, he chose to face the music. With Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively, and Daniel Gafford all out, the odds of Dallas winning this game were slim. But, he showed up anyways.

Luka Doncic will make his first trip to Dallas on April 9.
