The Cincinnati Bengals made one of the biggest moves of the NFL offseason as they were able to tie down both their star wide receivers, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, to new deals. Both Chase and Higgins’ contracts were unique in their own ways.
Earlier this week, the Bengals signed Ja’Marr Chase to a 4-year, $161M ($112M guaranteed) contract while Tee Higgins inked a 4-year, $115 million deal.
As for the historic nature of their new contracts, Chase’s deal with the Bengals makes him the highest paid non-quarterback in the history of the NFL, while Higgins’ new contract makes him the highest-paid WR2 of all time.
On Wednesday, March 19, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson seemed to respond to the Bengals’ marquee offseason moves by posting the LeBron-sarcastically-afraid GIF on social media.

A few hours after Jackson’s tweet, the Bengals official social media account put out a video of sports pundits — such as Stephen A. Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Mike Florio, and Mike Greenberg — incorrectly predicting that they would not re-sign both Chase and Higgins.

Another of the talking heads featured in the video was ESPN’s Pat McAfee, who took the diss on the chin and responded in kind on social media.

Chase is coming off a particularly dominant season as the led the NFL in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. The 25-year-old pass catcher has been one of the top three wide receivers in the game since the Bengals took him out of LSU with the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
