It’s been a rough year for the Los Angeles Lakers. The offense is struggling. The team isn’t winning. They are still paying a ton of money for the roster they’ve constructed.

It seems that one of the team’s former players believes the struggles are taking their toll on their biggest star.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope spent 4 years with the Lakers before being traded to the Washington Wizards last season in the Russell Westbrook deal. During the last 3 of those years with the Lakers, KCP got to spend a lot of time playing alongside LeBron James.

This week, he revealed that there’s a difference between the LeBron you see now and the one he played with. According to KCP, this LeBron is missing his spark.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope believes LeBron James is missing his spark

It’s hard to watch sometimes. So from me to him, just get the team together, and I just want to see that spark in him again. I don’t think I see that spark in Bron. So, hopefully, he can get it back.

It’s not hard to see why there might be a spark missing for LeBron this season. This Lakers team has been the worst he has played alongside in years and there doesn’t seem to be much reason to believe that will be changing any time soon.

However, LeBron’s numbers throughout this season don’t really seem to indicate any kind of lack of a spark. In the 20th season of his NBA career, he is still averaging 24.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game even as the Lakers struggle. His scoring numbers may have taken a hit this season compared to last year, but those are still impressive averages.

The Los Angeles Lakers are definitely in need of some kind of spark right now, it just doesn’t seem like LeBron is missing it as well.
