NBA legend LeBron James looking at his new custom-built Canyon bikes gravel bike
When you are a celebrity, the world treats you differently. When you are one of the most famous current professional athletes on planet earth, LeBron James, that is especially true.
Case in point, Canyon bikes just custom-built a 32-inch Grizl CF for King James calling it a bike ‘Fit For The King.’ The double entendre there being that this bike had to be custom-built to accommodate LeBron‘s massive frame and that bike fitting is a truly essential part of the new bike experience, adjusting all of the various components throughout the bike to personalize them for the rider.
LeBron James Debuts His New Canyon Bike
For starters, let me say that LeBron James is making fantastic decisions going with a Canyon. If I could afford a Canyon, or even get one at a reduced price on sale, I’d jump on that in a heartbeat. They make some of the best bikes in the industry across their entire range. I might be the worst triathlete within a 50-mile radius but I’m convinced a Speedmax CFR could fix me and their hydration system built into the cockpit is exactly what I need training in Florida.
But for LeBron James, living in Pennslvania now and playing for the Sixers, he just gained access to some of the best cycling roads in the country off the mainline. And for their part, Canyon would be INSANE to have not worked with LeBron James on this because this is immeasurable free publicity for them.
LeBron showed off his new custom-build Canyon 32-inch Grizl CF on X and Canyon rolled out a video of the build as well.
Custom Features
For LeBron James’ custom-built bike, Canyon hooked him up with 32″ prototype wheels from DT-Swiss. His bike was outfitted with an industry-best SRAM wireless drive train that has been tune to accommodate LeBron’s “explosive power.”
They included custom CNC-machined boost thru-axles and an in-house CNC seat clamp to support King James’ massive frame and power. It also features Canyon’s VCLS seatpost and Aero Gravel handlebar for peak aero speed on the downhills. They also built a custom front fork mount for extra hydration room or gear.
On Canyon’s website, the Grizl 6 starts at $1,799. Prices go up from there to $3,799 for the Grizl CF 7 AXS and $4,999 for the Grizl CF 8 Di2. LeBron James’ bike is a custom build from Canyon as their sizes don’t typically accommodate 6’9″ athlete with a 7’7″ wingspan who weighs 250 pounds, give or take a few.

At 41 years old, taking up road/gravel cycling in earnest is a fantastic decision for LeBron James. It will enable him to keep his ‘aerobic engine’ running like a Ferrari without putting extra stress on his knees and other joints, it can also help him build up quad strength and explosive jumping power for on the court.
At the end of the day, getting one of the best bike builders in the world to make you a fully customized gravel bike is pretty awesome. If I said I wasn’t jealous I’d be lying.
