Winning 21 consecutive regular-season football games requires plenty of talent, consistency, and occasionally one completely absurd play when everything is about to fall apart. Lehigh got the latter Saturday when DJ Brown made a one-handed interception at the five-yard line with 13 seconds remaining to preserve a 24-20 win over Dartmouth.
Dartmouth was driving for the game-winning touchdown when quarterback Grayson Saunier tried to squeeze a pass toward the end zone, only for Brown to snag it with one hand and immediately end the threat. The Patriot League recap confirmed the interception extended Lehigh’s regular-season winning streak to 21 games, the second-longest in program history.

This was not one of those interceptions where the quarterback launches a desperate Hail Mary directly into a crowd of defenders. Dartmouth had time.
The Big Green got the ball back with under two minutes remaining and moved deep into Lehigh territory while trailing by four. A touchdown wins the game. A turnover ends it, and Brown called game.
With Dartmouth threatening at the Lehigh five, he stepped in front of Saunier’s throw and somehow caught it with his right hand while moving across the field.

Thirteen seconds remained. Victory formation. Good night.
That is considerably more entertaining than extending a 20-game streak with a 35-point blowout and three kneel-downs.
Lehigh Had Already Survived One Late Dartmouth Drive
The final possession was actually Dartmouth’s second opportunity to steal the game in the fourth quarter.
Lehigh entered the period trailing 20-17 before Luke Yoder capped an 11-play, 75-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown to put the Mountain Hawks back ahead with 8:41 remaining.
Yoder carried 27 times for 150 yards and two touchdowns, giving him his fourth consecutive 100-yard game to open the season.
Dartmouth then drove into Lehigh territory before turning the ball over on downs at the 22 with 2:27 remaining.
That should have been enough. It was not.
Lehigh failed to completely drain the clock, Dartmouth got another possession, and suddenly Brown was standing between the Big Green and one of the biggest upsets of the FCS weekend.
The win moved the Mountain Hawks to 4-0 and preserved a college football win streak that has now reached 21 straight (Montana State technically has the longest uninterrupted FCS streak at 18, but Lehigh is the team to beat when you ignore the result of its postseason bracket).
There are easier ways to keep a winning streak alive, but it worked out in the end.
