Two Colorado State football players have been suspended for the regular season finale against Air Force. For one, it brings his career to an end.
Liam Wortmann is a redshirt senior on the Rams‘ offensive line. He will not compete on the field for Senior Day.
The veteran has started all 11 games at right guard after transferring in from Division II Central Missouri. He opted to finish out his college football career at the FBS level.
Unfortunately, it will not end as anticipated.

Quarterback Darius Curry made headlines over the weekend after being caught on camera spitting on a Boise State defender. That unsportsmanlike act forced his head coach’s hand.
“I’ll watch the film and evaluate the situation,” said interim head coach Tyson Summers. “I’ll decide if there will be disciplinary action… We want to be known as a school that plays with high sportsmanship… I apologize if we didn’t uphold that.”
After reviewing the film, Summers made the decision to suspend Curry. The passer’s actions were cut and dry. He has since offered an apology on social media.
Wortmann’s transgressions, however, were not as visible. Summers must’ve seen something egregious enough to remove the lineman from the lineup.
Liam Wortmann does not agree with his suspension.
The school released a statement on the decision after Summers’ findings. Both Curry and Wortmann were named as offenders.
As a result of the unsportsmanlike conduct of spitting on opposing players during the second half of the football game at Boise State, Colorado State Interim Head Football Coach Tyson Summers and Director of Athletics John Weber have suspended Redshirt Freshman Quarterback Darius Curry and Redshirt Senior Offensive Lineman Liam Wortmann for the final football game vs. Air Force on Friday, November 28, 2025.
“After having a chance to review the film following the game, I want to apologize to the Boise State football players, Coach Danielson, and everyone at Boise State University”, said Summers.
“These actions are unacceptable,” echoed AD John Weber. “We are all regretful for what occurred last night, and on behalf of everyone at Colorado State, I want to apologize to the Boise State Football.”
Wortmann was linked to the spitting controversy. He disagrees with the accusation, but will accept the punishment.

“I want to acknowledge the statement the Rams made regarding an accusation made against me,” the note read. “Though I do not agree with the accusation, I do agree that good sportsmanship should be upheld in all contests… I gave everything I had to the Green and Gold and will remember my time in Fort Collins for the rest of my life.”
The Rams are 2-9. They will not play in a bowl game.
While Wortmann rejects any wrongdoing, his Colorado State football career is now done.
