The 29-year-old Storley will headline Bellator’s first five-round non-title fight when he meets Neiman Gracie on Saturday at Bellator 274.
Here’s how Storley feels he matches up with Gracie.
“I think it’s a good match up. He’s fought my former teammate Jason Jackson, former teammate Rory McDonald, so I took a lot from those fights, but really I just I got to implement my game plan. I know where he’s good at. I know he’s good on the ground, so I need to be smart and be focused for the whole 25 minutes.”
Storley’s sole loss was to current Bellator welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov and he hopes to get a rematch if he’s able to beat Gracie on Saturday.
“We’re top five guys in the world and so this is a main event, five rounder. Obviously, me and Amosov was a split decision fight that a lot of people thought maybe I won. And so I would like that rematch.”
Storley believes things would end up differently if he faced the Bellator welterweight champ today.
“There were a few times in that fight where I took unnecessary shots and didn’t get to my dominant position. I put myself in some bad positions, used energy that I didn’t need to use that weren’t scoring points. I think I’ve approved a lot and there’s more to my game than there was a year ago.”
