How did you salute the troops this Veterans Day? Maybe attend a parade or donate to a veterans group? Maybe a moment of quiet reflection before a legendary 49ers-Seahawks Monday Night Football game? Maybe a tiny tribute on social media honoring those who served past or present?
However you honored our Veterans today, I guarantee it wasn’t as weird as what the Los Angeles Clippers mascot, Chuck, did on the hardwood at the Staples Center.
During a ceremony at halftime on Monday night’s game against the Raptors, the Los Angeles Clippers honored 104 year old veteran Sam Sachs. A Los Angeles native, Sachs is a true American badass, surviving D-Day and serving in Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands near the end of World War II.

Meanwhile…
The #Clippers honored 104 year old veteran, Sam Sachs. He received his own customized jersey, and the largest ovation of the night.
He stormed the beaches of Normandy, liberated concentration camps, and more. Happy Veterans Day. pic.twitter.com/kqYFFMVZev

Which is why it was extra weird that Chuck appeared to give the vet a wet willie on TV while accepting his custom jersey:
The Clippers mascot giving a 104 year old WWII vet a wet willie on Veterans Day is the weirdest nightcap to a wild day pic.twitter.com/G8E9SM6ajy

Here’s another angle:
Happy Veterans Day to all the veterans. And especially this 104 year old veteran who smiled and beamed when Chuck the Clipper mascot cleaned his ears out. #WhatJustHappened pic.twitter.com/rXFWWYDSoX

The Internet was quick with the WTF reactions:

On Veterans Day, Chuck The Condor (wearing camo) just gave a wet willie to a 104 year old D-Day veteran standing next to two Clippers Spirit Dancers wearing sexy troop outfits.
A day that will live in infamy. pic.twitter.com/Zcr4vIjuSv

What the heck is the Clippers mascot doing to the 104 year old Veteran? pic.twitter.com/qYi9arN22N

This dude did not survive Normandy and live to 104 just for some motherfucker in a pink condor costume to put a polyester finger in his ear!! pic.twitter.com/F5HADfKv9L

Clippers had a WWII vet come out only for the dumbass bird mascot to give him a wet willy. I think we need to make the condor extinct again if these are the antics they pull

All weirdness aside, let’s not forget: Sam Sachs is true American warrior.
In the 3rd quarter, the #Clippers will be honoring 104-year-old D Day survivor, Commander Sam Sachs.
He led over 200 men in the Battle of Normandy, and helped liberate a concentration camp.
A true living hero, in every sense of the word. It'll be a special moment. pic.twitter.com/5cJtJjW4Ja
