LSU and South Carolina finished Sunday’s SEC Championship game with only five players after everyone else on both sides were ejected as result of an ugly brawl. It was one of the wildest endings to a women’s college basketball game in recent history.

A player’s brother even jumped onto the court and was escorted out of the arena in handcuffs!

The mayhem began as Flau’jae Johnson grabbed ahold of MiLaysia Fulwiley’s jersey. She did not let go as the Gamecocks guard tried to run on the fast break and was called for a common foul.

LSU and South Carolina’s SEC Championship game devolved into chaos.

In that moment, Ashlyn Watkins ran over to flex in Johnson’s face. That did not go over well.

Johnson threw an elbow at her throat. That also did not go over well.

Kamilla Cardoso ran over and decked Johnson to the floor. The vast majority of both benches cleared. Hailey Van Lith was ready to throw.

Coaches on both sides had to pull their players back as a heated kerfuffle proceeded to unfold.

Here’s a better look at Cardoso’s violent bodycheck:

Amidst all of the mayhem, Johnson’s brother ran down from the crowd and jumped over the scorer’s table to accost the South Carolina big. He was literally on the floor in defense of his sister!

Johnson’s brother was promptly put in handcuffs and ushered out of Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Meanwhile, the officials broke down the incident. They issued a few different fouls.

The entire incident between LSU and South Carolina took about 20 minutes to figure out.

Multiple players on both teams were tossed because they left the bench.

Cardoso was ejected for fighting. As a result, she will not be able to play in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Johnson was not issued an ejection. She was one of the five players on her team who were allowed to finish the game. Her brother did not get to witness the finish.

South Carolina went on to beat LSU by seven to claim the SEC women’s basketball title.
